Local Dollars to Local Scholars
Dollars for Scholars of Indian River County is a local chapter of Scholarship America. Founded by Dan K. Richardson and members of the Vero Beach Rotary Club, DFS has been providing need-based college scholarships to Indian River County students since 1965.
Dollars for Scholars is supported solely through the generosity of the residents and businesses of Indian River County. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization. Our volunteer Board of Directors raises our funds, sets our policies, reviews scholarship applications and interviews student applicants and their families.
Over the past 46 years, we have provided more than 2,599 students with $8.1MM in scholarships. Scholarship qualifications and applications are available online each year after January 1 and must be submitted by our mid-February deadline. We welcome the support of all who wish to join us in fulfilling the college dreams of the hardworking, talented and deserving students in Indian River County.

Knowing that so many people believe in me, I feel destined to succeed. I promise to work hard and make everyone proud. Some day, I plan to make a difference in this world. Thank you for making a difference in mine.
